A CNC deformation-processing approach for forming large, thermally stable structures in space

A CNC wire bending system executing a CNC deformation process forms three-dimensional (3D) reticulated structures. A bend path is created so that the reticulated structure may be formed from a single wire. The bend path is converted into a list of machine instructions readable by a CNC wire bending system. The CNC wire bending system bends continuous feedstock to form a bent structure with nodes and straight edges. The nodes are joined using snap-fit joints, soldering, or brazing to form a 3D reticulated structure.
