Ultra Strong Two Dimensional Materials

A two dimensional material including a plurality of a first aromatic ring and a plurality of a second aromatic ring, wherein each of the first aromatic ring covalently bonded to at least two of the second aromatic ring by amide bonds, and a method of forming such a material are provided. In another aspect, a method is provided for forming a coating of a two-dimensional material by depositing a material described herein on a surface. The coating can be formed by spin coating, dip coating or drop coating the material on the surface, for example, in a solution. The solvent can be polar and protic, for example, TFA.
